Ahoy,
quick question, I got some spare time and experience. I could write a story-based guide/how-to/handbook in pdf form, if you'd like. Ranging from "seagull or Zero?" to "realistic gameplay". Would anyone like that? Should take me a week or two, maybe one more if I illustrate every step along the way. |

What do you mean by a "how-to" guide?

Oh well, I'll just give it a go and you'll see.
You have some pretty neat tactics here, too, by the way. I wonder why mine are so extremely different from them.. I'll learn them and compare them on the way ![]() |

I'm on it.
I'm taking notes and screens while playing the game, then develop a storyline and instructions around that. I just need to get my vocabulary right, still lacking many expressions, but that'll improve as I read through the forums, I think (I'm german, FOTRS is, too, so I could use some vocabulary help in the end concerning ranks or the like). The game indeed does support me pretty well in it, my first mission being a bath towel shipment to Formosa. ![]() I've yet to try those attack maneuvers you got in the bag of tricks - with any luck, the Luzon invasion force will be my targeting practice on the way to my mission objective. Really looking forward to testing that O'Kane technique, I wonder if it proves as efficient as mine.. personally, I expect way more duds off of it, but we'll see. Cromwell sounds much more (safer) fun, but that'll be my number two on the list, as I hate math in the middle of the night. I'll add as much information off the forums and my own experience as I can, of course giving credit. |

O'Kane has no bearing on duds, it's just an aiming method, no different than Cromwell, just Cromwell uses a narrower attack angle. Vector is a little better. RR has several video's on these and others. The good thing with O'Kane type attacks is you aim by the wire, no range, no ID'ing ships, ect.., so you just shoot the juicy spots as they pass the wire.
I use O'Kane when I can, but if ships peg you and start zigging or changing speed, all that set up is basically out the window. I prefer easy AOB with multiple targets. Using that I'll use the stad as normal. Once I have my set up, I'll revert back to somewhat O'Kane, just unlock, place a bearing in front of the target and shoot by the wire. There is no one good attack method. A good skipper has many different tactics and changes up based on the situation at hand. Over the years I thought we had covered every possible technique, so be interesting to see what you've come up with. |

Raven - That sounds like a good idea; perhaps more so for some of us newbies
