Default Cruise ship hit by illness

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/m...de/8638398.stm
Yet another cruise ship has been hit by the Norro virus (aka winter vomiting bug). Will these cruise line companies ever learn, and screen passengers for sign of illness? As once any infection is aboard a ship, it spreads like wildfire.... (que the puns)

How odd that, that only seems to happen on Cruise Liners.

Lots of people mingling in what is really to all intents and purposes a 'confined space'....unlike cargo vessels with smaller numbers of bodies aboard and an increased early awareness if someone is looking off colour.

An outbreak happened here in Australia a couple of years ago on a cruise ship. They closed the dinning room, isolated passengers and did everything possible to redue the impact, but it wiped out two cruises, and that was even trying to sterlize the ship between cruises!

As opposed to I dont know.. an airliner?

I have asked the same question about the cruise ship. There was one ship that was scrubbed stem to stern with disinfactants went out and everyone got sick again. So they returned scrubbed it down stem to stern with even more aggressive disinfectants went out and everyone got sick again.

The port authority took away their ticket its still unknown what the source was.

I can only guess it has something to do with the fact they are mingling for a much longer period of time than on, as you pointed out "an airliner".
