Sonarman Issues

Hi folks,

Well i've read the stuff on Hydrophone Hunting by Alcibiades, nice work
and it would work well If you have a competant Sonarman

my issue is that my Sonarman is absolute crap... i hit what can only be described as a Huge convoy, some 24 merchants and destroyers, i'm about 10k or so away in failing light with decks awash, i decide to dive and take up the situation from there but guess what, my sonarman is completely deaf.... does anybody think he's suffering the same problem that idiot on the US sub had... aka Ipod plugged in... or in my guys case the bloody Gramophone!!!

any ideas on how to fix this apart from throwing the Gramophone over the side

It appears that this is very hit and miss issue, some patrols he seems to be ok, i say ok as he's found contacts before i've visually spotted em and other times they've been spotted i dive and he cant find em.

Its driving me round the bend.

Exactly the same problem here, too. Selective hearing, mostly selected to the "off" position. And the sonar man was the first guy to get all the promotion points.

what i like is when a contact will show up on my map, the Grey line jutting out from my sub, Yet my sonar man will say nothing at all...

Then if i ask him to follow nearest contact, He tells me "No sound contact to follow"...WTF....where or how did i get the gray lines then...

So i surface the boat, and my radio man tells me there is contact at such and such...i start heading that way, dive down and still, my sonar man is lost in a sea of something, cause he says there is nothing out there..

Put the radio man to the sonar station, the sonar man in the kitchen and the cook on the radio.
Maybe you'll get a better soup!

First patch introduced bugs with the sonarman. I expect it to be fixed in the patch coming later today
