Default [REQ] Tracking external camera

Is it possible to have a tracking external camera that will follow the players u-boat?
Or fixed external views from different angles, like in flight simulator X?

It would look cool in rough seas.

Keith.

From what we've seen the "locked to ownship" camera mode is broken now since the player is the 'camera' now. Locking to other ships works if you're already in External Camera mode though.

Hopefully the devs will be able to add back in that mode. It was quite entertaining and useful in earlier games.

Well, you can 'attach' the camera to the back of the sub and have the camera 'towed' by the sub. If you get the camera near the stern and leave it alone, the sub will 'pick it up' and take it along. It was like that in SH4 too. Most odd. What you can't do, as kylania points out is to have a view of your choice.

That was my favorite view in the entire game. I admit I am not very good at this game, but I am in it for the eye candy, and loved just following my sub. I wonder what went on in the dev meetings "Hey, don't we need to keep that external view of the player's vehicle like every other game has?" "Uh, no, that is soooo been done to death. We're getting rid of that."

The SubFolow section is still in the Camera.cam
It appears to be attached to the Cameras.GR2 file
under the Free cam
Perhaps it's not quite attached right?
And what the heck is the Pelorous cam?

Are you sure that's what SubFollow does? I was under the impression that was the controller to 'attach' the camera to the back of the sub and have the camera 'towed' by the sub, rather than have the camera in a static position around any unit.

A pelorous is a device with which to take bearing, so it's probably the UZO.

Hi,

I am missing this basic feature, too.
Also a standard north orientated view-direction. View to heading in the
started outside-view.
I cannot understand why they had forget this basic feature.
But if people will have sharks and dolphins first, than I fear those
basic important features will submerge.
