How many people get the "smoke on the horizon " message when in high time compression ?

I get it sometimes but its usually when an enemy is spotted and the time compression kicks back down to 8x automatically... is this what your talking about?

I get it often. I think the problem for me is: Way out of port, then using tc (max 4096), the ships on the map are disappearing. Then when going back to TC 1x the message comes (depends on whether smoke was on the horizon at the point when I´ve begun to use TC. Sometimes when going back to TC 1x the message "Ship spottet blablabla" comes. Reason is the same as with the smoke on the horizion message I think.

Can't remember exactly where to change it (main cfg file) one setting is for default and another is for running in 'travel mode' .

Ah, found it.
C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Cfg Look for the main.cfg and open with notepad, you'll see the settings for Time compression and under EnemyDetected=1,8 change the 8 to a 1 and save, so that it automatically drops to 1x when running in travel mode and an enemy is detected. ![]() |
