Do you need to flood tubes only for manual TDC? Seems to make no difference with auto TDC and I'm soon to change to manual.

It doesn't seem to make any difference for manual, either. Nothing more than a sound effect.

Yeah, in SH3 there was a huge difference in firing speed between opened and closed doors. Also it was super fun flipping the switches before battle. That seems to be completely gone in SH5.

"Flooding tube" and "Open Shutter Door" are different. None of the SH games 3-5 have even acknowledged the act known as "flooding torpedo tube." The shutter doors automatically are opened to match the tube selected so unless you fire immediately after selecting a different tube you won't notice a delay. Notice that if you press Q it'll say "closing torpedo door" because it was already opened. Viewing external while pressing the cycle tube key confirms.

there's a way to mod this so they won't automatically open. Pretty easy to do actually. If I don't get a mod for this out someone else will soon I bet.
edit - so much for it being easy. It's either hard coded to open the door when you select a tube or it's not in the normal files for a submarine. Cause there's an auto-open setting in the sub files but changing that to No didn't make a difference. One of us modders will find it eventually ![]() Last edited by wamphyri; 03-21-10 at 11:36 PM. |
