Default Super Noob Question

Hi sorry for Nooberocity: I finished the training mission and am back in the sub pens where uber-dude gave me my own boat and sent the other captain packing ... he tells me I need to go talk to my second-in-command, who I can see on the ~bridge, but I can't communicate with him, nor get on the boat ... I'm just running around like a chicken inside the sub pen... can anyone help me with that? Appreciate the trouble. I am somewhat of an old-hand with SH III and IV, but this new version is giving me some new territory to learn. Thanks, and sorry again for having to ask questions which are no doubt foolish.

There are two people standing in the pen, pretty close to where you talk to Captain Rahn after the mission. One of them lets you upgrade your sub and buy torpedoes, another gives you mission orders.

No question is a bad question, have you looked through the Tips and FAQ here? Look up at the sticky threads. There is a campaign intro there.

Thanks again. I am really struggling to get used to this new format ... I may shelve it and go back to 4 if things don't improve for me. I am a Sim'er, not otherwise, and this game feels a bit arcade-y and dumbed down, in terms of the gameplay. My little son loves it, so I'm going to continue to try to learn to play it and hopefully we'll both end up enjoying it as much as we did 4. I have one more question to add at this point, in case anyone happens to re-visit the thread: I can't seem to figure out how to take a depth-sounding, or, the depth-under-keel report that I used quite frequently in 4. Can anyone advise? Thanks all,

Have a look in the mod section here. A lot of changes can be made through mods already. And there will only be more as time goes by.
I hear the morale mod is a must, and there are User interface mods that make SH5 much more like Sh3 and 4.
Worth a look anyway.
