Default Torpedoes Off by a Ship Length?

Me too. Just to clarify, I don't use manual TDC. See, I upgraded my TDC with QX9650 Extremes and 8GB of Corsair DDR3. So I can just point and shoot. Anyway, the tutorial, first, and second missions were fine, and fun was had by all.

Then I screwed up.

I promoted my torpedo dude. Now, I didn't use any of the pre-heat skills, because I had read something about that ability causing accuracy issues, but I did upgrade his passive skills.

Now, if I am aiming amidships, and loose off a torpedo, regardless of speed, distance, depth, whatever, it passes by harmlessly about a half a ship length ahead of the target. Every time. The only way I can actually sink ships is by literally aiming at it's wake. Frustrating.

Anyone else having a similar issue?

Keep them numbers close to each other at the best 90 deg you can.

Hmm.

I don't use manual TDC, and didn't have much of a problem sinking ships - I have over 70,000 tons on the bottom my first 2 missions. Then I upgraded my torpedo guy, and maxed out all his passive abilities, and now my torpedoes pass a half a boat length in front of all my targets every time, and the yellow line is way off kilter, normally at the edge of my viewing cone, even in straight on shots.

Then again, I could just have my head up my rear end. Let me go give it another whirl and try to actually line up the numbers (I never paid much attention to them the past two missions).

If you upgrade the "Increased torpedo damage and Range" capability, it increases the torpedoes speed (so that it travels a greater distance in the same amount of time).

This upgraded speed is not reflected in the Auto fire "connect the dots" numberings or the Manual TDC calculations.

Yep, that did it. 7 shots, 7 hits. Apparently I was quite lucky my first two missions! Hah.

Wait. You're telling me that if I upgraded my guys torpedo skill ihave effectively screwed myself because UBI didn't integrate the new speeds into either aiming system???

Truly wtf

I couldn't understand why I was missing by such a huge gap. I really can't believe they released this game in this state.

In the first mission the ships are stationary.

There are reports that increasing your torpedomans skillz will throw off your solutions. Even the passive ones "Warhead expert" I think change the torpedoes speed causing even good solutions to miss.

Same here mate. I promoted my torpedo guy too, after that i cant hit even fishing boat . Im using Solution Solver and tried auto and manual TDC. Same accuracy issues (torpedos running too fast ).

No such problem here, in first time i used the dot system and make my torpedo officier more effective with max passive upg for speed, no changement seen, good accuracy, recently i tried TDC and loved it, just more realistic and accurate, 100% accuracy even with front and back fire solution and can hit at more than 3km with side fire solution.

I started to miss by the bow after I upgraded the torpedo range/damage passive to max and after testing the torp speed went from 44kts to 52kts and you could determine that the TDC doesn't take this into account. OF course you can't notice it if you prefer shooting at close range.

I missed one peculiar thing also, as you assign the points the skill states clearly to torpedo range and damage, but by clicking the little arrow next to the torpedomans slide bar it states torpedo SPEED and damage.

There's a thread about this, link below:
