I got spanked by running silent to long again. Went deep and silent to avoid some pest from above and thought I had it under control. I went for a walk while we were evading and all of a sudden boom, were to deep sir! before I could recover I died.

When you sub is submerged, you have to keep going to maintain a certain depth. Just like some "primitive" fishes that would go to bottom if they stop swimming (ie sharks).
If I remember correctly, the minimum cruise speed for a submerged Uboot, called schleichfahrt, corresponded to the propellers running at 90 rpm. The boat was then cruising at only 2.5-2.75 kts Maybe a bug? If your sub is going at 2+ kts it should keep its intended depth. Or maybe the crew was so depressed (buggy morale system) that they decided to put an end to their misery ![]()

Am i the only one that hast gone under 50 meters yet with their boat? lol. I never had a problem with destroyers once i get past parascope depth, they cant seem to find me past that point.

Shouldn't we sink at any depth if we lie still?
Plus they did have ballast tanks so I guess they could maintain a certain depth by going up/down all the time as long as they had enough compressed air and they didn't care about the noise. In silent running tho it does makes a bit more sense but you should be able to maintain depth at 1 knot |
