I enjoy the news that we have have found a way to play SHV without a techter back to ubisfot servers! Unless of course the game phones home whilst playing.

Default Kind of says it all really!

You know its interesting - We all expect progress and improvement in successive games of a given series - so if you accept that Silent Hunter 3 was a simulation, how the hell can you say Silent Hunter 5 is a viable progression becuase you sure as hell couldnt play Sh3 on your Iphone theres just too much in the game, too much detail, too much history, too much challenge

Yup this single admission should be enough to warn the serious SubSimmer well away from ........you know what - Please note I didnt even mention the unmentionable item that begins with D

By the way - why do folks keep trying to flog PT Boats - you will notice not one serious thread here at SubSim devoted to it other than to say rude things about it - who writes these reviews anyway

By the way I bought a copy of PT Boats in case any one thinks I just like slagging things off for the fun of it

Best Regards
R

IPhone Silent Hunter is done by a separate dev team. Its not the same game. The subject matter is the same, but then, so is the one in AOD.

Hi , do you know if the iPhones users need a permanent 3G connection?

Sorry couldn't resist.

Ubi will now have your iTunes password, and require "Allow location services" seemingly, to give your subs location in the iPhone game--but instead, no apps will work unless connected to ubi's new worldwide wifi--service, which the apps will kindly direct you to the nearest location, based on your current coordinates. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Seriously--it's ridiculous, and simply does not follow, that because there is an iPhone release for the game, that that means the sim itself will be simple, arcadish, etc. It will be a neat little app to check out when on the poop deck. Maybe it'll be a little addictive, and sell a few copies of the actual PC sim, to others, who would have never even considered it.
