What's about AA/AF ? I don't get it …
Those ones sayin it's completely not possible …
→ due to the engine's missing core capabilities The other guys tellin (read it somewhere, also here) it's usable if hard-forced. → with tools like 'nHancer' [for nVidia boards only, of course] What's wrong and what is correct ? Anyway, what's the matter? ![]() In this sense Smartcom |

I tried to force AA/AF with ATI Catlyst Control Center, but haven't had any luck.
I'm amazed that a game in this day and age doesn't utilize AA. I'm probably just doing something wrong, though.

i have several ATI cards, (older and newer ones) and can force AA up to 8x
if you can't get it with the cat control center you should try the ATI tray tools. link to the latest version incl. support for 5850 series: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=275077 |

additionally, it seems you have to enable Adaptive AA too.

Stuck in a moment i can't get out of …
Quote:
I meant it in generally, what's the matter between those statements. ![]() So, to clarify, it isn't generally supported through the engine itself at all, but can be forced (more or less, depending on the card [with ATI better/more probably than with nVidia boards]), right ? That was the main thing i was looking for. So, it turns out that my dislike for nVidia boards doesn't look that bad after all … ![]() I got a few years ago my last nVidia [a one of those horrible FX 5200], otherwise always those such great ATI cards. Bought about two years ago a HD 3850 [the AGP version, just for an upgrade on a backup computer]. Even that card screams, it literally eats cards like one of those highly acclaimed 8800 series from nVidia. It's still capable to run e.g. CoD:MW2 or OF: DR² at highest settings [on 1280x1024], it got average frames at 25-40 fps, but that's an outstanding heavy duty for that old card. ![]() And keep in mind, that this card [HD 3850] is just a bit above the mainstream-level … Quote:
![]() I don't use the CCC - i got always a suspicious feeling if something is running that i can't assign to some known tasks/processes. Beside that, i got it more than once that the CCC changed the AA/AF settings in the background while i was running a game 'cause it got the opinion that it should adjust the settings to meet some crappy profile-requirements [i'd never set] … I love the simplicity of a plainly Omega driver or the naked WDM driver. ![]() Tried it using the ATT 1.3.6 (r1042) and was able to force it up to 4x AA & 8x AF - both on Direct3D, if i set AA higher than 4x, the game crashes instantly as i alt-tab back into it … Here's what i got so far (same angle, distance & viewpoint): All In-Game graphic details set up to maximum. Anti-Aliasing OFF Anisotropic Filtering OFF ![]() Anti-Aliasing 4x Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing 8x Anisotropic Filtering 16x ![]() Whereas AF i could set up to 16x without any problems. But, i tested it all on-line, while the game was running (i know, it's simply not done - but that is the only way to take captures [of the same angle and view] to detect whether AA/AF is enabled or not - like the two ones above). Also tried the latest release 1.6.9 (r1337) without luck. I can't set Anti-Aliasing higher than 4x - but in contrast, up to 16x Anisotropic Filtering … What do you mean ? Was meinen Sie damit ? Where can i set it up (AAA) inside the ATT ? Wo kann ich's denn (innerhalb von ATT) aktivieren ? Thanks in advance for any help ! ![]() In this sense Smartcom |

That screenshot with the AA/AF enabled looks great!
I can't get AA/AF to work at all. I've tried the Catalyst Control Center, and I've tried the ATI Tray tools that Vickers03 mentioned, but neither of them seem to work.

AHA!!!
I searched the threads and found the answer to my problem. In the ATI Catalyst Control Center, you have to DISABLE "Catalyst AI." Now I have to decide which I prefer: AA/AF and 20-30 FPS, or 60 FPS with jagged edges. ![]()
