Default Installation problems

So, some time far in the past I deleted my SH4 to make room for other things on my quite cramped hard drive. Problem is, now that I want it back it won't take me. Says I still have my SH4 installed in some imaginary location and, to my knowledge I have deleted all of the registry entries that are related to Silent Hunter 4. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, somewhere you still have leftover files windows is reading. You need to find these and purge them or you can try loading to a path with a different name. There are some good registry cleaners that are free online, you may want to try one of those.

Aha. Speaking of that, there was apparently some leftover sneakiness in the My Documents folder. Seems I deleted my SH3 stuff by accident when I thought I cleared it out before. Whoops.

not only that but when you unistall the game it will leave the jsgme and any game files that were installed by mods and its common mistake to uninstall the game but forget to first uninstall the mods so go look in your directory files and delete the sh4 folder inside your ubisoft folder, it has a sh3 game folder AND a sh4 game folder inside it thats the one causing problems

delete that file and sh4 will load right up for you
