Default Uh oh not again (politics)

Woopsie another un-invited guest attends a White House function.

I honestly dont remember has this happened under previous administrations ?

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) - It wasn't a state dinner, and they didn't crash it on purpose.
Still, a Georgia couple who showed up at the White House a day early for a tour somehow wound up at an invitation-only breakfast with President Barack Obama and the first lady. It left the White House once again explaining how people who were not on an event guest list wound up being ushered into the presidential mansion anyway.

If you're going to quote a story, at least be honest about it.

Quote:

They approached an aide to clarify the situation, but were told: "Just go with the flow." Darden added: "I told him, 'I don't think this is part of the White House tour.' He said, 'No it's not. It's an invitation event for veterans.'"

The official then asked whether Darden was a veteran. When Darden told him he had served in the navy, the aide suggested he and his wife stay.

...

Ed Donovan, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said agents had subjected the Dardens to the same security procedures as the other breakfast guests, verifying their names and running a criminal background check.

The couple had passed their vetting, said a White House spokesman, and were allowed to attend the veterans' breakfast as "a nice gesture".

Hah, this goes on all the time. When I was in elementary school we made a trip to the White House for a tour. One of my classmates got behind from the rest of the group. He was wondering around. Secret Service picked him up and got him back to our class field trip. This was during the Ford administration.

When I was younger (Bush the first's administration) we were visiting my aunt and uncle in Virginia. Turns out my aunt had a friend in the Secret Service. When we did the White House tour, we got to go into one of their control rooms and I got to hold an Uzi and put on Bush's bulletproof rain coat. That was pretty awesome for a 10 year old.

I read an article that said these folks arrived a day early for their scheduled tour. As a result they were check by security and allowed to attend the veterans breakfast. Darden, 67 years old, is a Navy veteran. He explaned to security that he did not belong there. They said to stay as he was a vet. Actually, it is a nice story.
