Nope.
![]() Though it's probably worth it if you're "limited" to a console. ![]() Borderlands Review: Guns! Guns! Guns!

Maybe
![]() Apparently this game has been known for a while, but I only just heard of it like a week ago. I love not being hyped about a new game. ![]() Anyway, I'm a little worried that it might suck because I keep hearing people compare it to Hellgate and even Halo. I hate halo-esque shield/heal gameplay, and I hate that 'mmo-like feeling' that games like Hellgate had. Like the game's environment is just a hollow place to level up in. I hope Borderlands doesn't feel that way. And then I hear comparisons to freaking Diablo. That's awesome, but I heard that this game's loot is limited to just weapons and there's no storage box to put them in. Too bad, I love decking my character out with badass armor and magic rings and ****. Not just a sweet weapon. It looks to be a fun coop game. That alone is enough for me to at least try it. Isn't it great? I've been starved for coop games for years. Now there's a bunch of em. ![]() |

I've been following this game for a while, since before they cel-shaded it, I've always thought it sounded quite good so I might give it a go.

This game is ok, but not as good as I expected it to be.
The graphics are awesome, I like the weapons, and the music is great. The game seemed promising at the start. It's stylistically well done and the into sequence rendered with the game graphics looks great. But all this falls flat after that. The NPCs are extremely hollow, just points to get quests from. The dialog is almost non-existant. Anything you kill will drop ammo, health, money and loot. A fun FPS I guess, but a ****ty RPG. I don't see where they got off touting this game as a revolutionary FPS/RPG cross, as if it was never done before. Stalker and Fallout 3 did it much better. |

It's not a bad game, but its an fps/action rpg mix (think Diablo) not a real RPG. As such it doesn't compare to Fallout 3. Personally I don't consider stalker to be much more of an RPG beyond any other shooter, no stats really for one thing (just equipment).
One thing that aggravates me about it is its lack of storage space (particularly shared storage). I hate having to tote around all these weapons I am too low level to use. The looting system is also messed up. NPCS tend to almost exclusivly drop total rubbish solo (even baddass/boss mobs), and the weapon boxes are all over the place as far as weapon level given. As examples: One spot i know of in the starter area has a box which gives level 19-25 weapons, often blue, and sometimes better. The mobs guarding it are level 11-15 and its very close to a save spot. You can actualy exploit it as the boxes get restocked each time you exit the game. I can do runs with my level 20 character every 2 minutes on average. In an hour My toon had a rediculous amount of money and lots of blue and purple weapons (most he can't use yet). Another spot, one of the hardest battles I fought so far, I had to fight about 16 level 15 super armored melee mobs two at a time continuously. The reward box gave level 5 weapons... Also the game seems to take great delight in droping every kind of ammo except for the kinds you need at the moment. I swear its weighted to select ammo that I am already full up on. It's also kind of buggy and is known to hate certain drivers. I have to run catalyst xp 9.4 drivers to get it to run otherwise it will freeze after about 5 minutes with 9.9 and 9.10 drivers. It is a great game though for going nuts in with your mates (don't play it with people you don't know and trust though, as there is no looting system at all). |
