Has anyone thought about or tried modding the ingame nav map to show the degree numbers aswell as the black and white markers?

I'm not sure if I understand you
![]() Could you post a screenshot and add to it roughly what you would like the map to show? May be we can have an idea or two for that ![]()

There ARE black and white bands at the edges of the map to resemble degrees and parts thereof. They move along as you pan te view. It's not really in degrees and arcminutes, more like a certain number of kilometers. But it lines up exactly with how degrees are represented in the Sh3 world (120km for each degree). It just has a weird subdivison scale that changes with zoomlevel. But I fear that this subdivision scale is hardcoded in the game. The thin map grid you see when you zoom in enough is also alligned with them and should help with finding the particular location. It's just that all lines look the same. There are no thicker lines for degree, 30 minutes or 10 minutes, etc. crossover.

![]() What i am trying to explain and query about is: when you zoom in on the nav map it shows the scale markers but it doesn't show your degrees east or west, or degrees north or south, and was hoping there was a way to show these on the edges as you zoom in just like the scale markers. or putting in another order request tab for the navigation officer reporting your position ie: 3 degrees east, 27 degrees South, etc, hope this makes my idea a bit clearer. Sorry but am unable to post attachments at this current time, maybe once i have been on here for a while longer i will be able to post screenshots. Last edited by GuyC_UK; 11-08-09 at 04:37 PM. |

![]() Well, the first thing needed to be able to implement such information is that the game actually has it and tracks it. And I suspect it doesn't, for most probably the position of your boat and the rest of units in the world is given in simple horizontal/vertical coordinates, as in the mission editor. It is very probable that the Devs used a debug mode where such coordinates were shown in the screen, but they probably won't be in grades/minutes/seconds for the reasons I outlined.
