PT Boats Quits Unexpectedly After Loading

Hello everyone,

I have an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ processor @ 2.08Ghz, 1GB RAM and nVidia GeForce FX 5700LE with 256MB graphics card. When I tried to run the game, it loads slowly but evetually all objects will be loaded in around two to three minutes. Then to the main menu where it will quit me back to desktop with error message after around ten seconds. While in main menu the graphics were very smooth and prior starting the game I tried to put everything down to the lowest settings so I can play smoothly. However it just stuffs up in main menu and there is no direct way to fix this problem by myself.

So does anyone have any idea what kind of problem this is, or even better, help me to fix this problem?? BTW this error is extremely similar to this thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=156851

Thanks, looking forward to fix this problem ASAP

Maybe They Need To Release Patches To Fix These Problems.

Yes I think so too since multiple ppl with different systems all experienced this problem, it must be a game problem and not a computer fault.

I have the feeling that your problem is that your graphic card is simply not powerful to handle that sim.

Disregard the "minimum" requirements you may find on the game specs, they only work in "optimal" conditions and depende largely on your specific hardware perfomance.
I installed the russian demo on a more powerful graphic card and PC system that the ones you stated here and worked although with low fps.

This sim has developed from DX9 to make full use of DX10.
Even if you are able to make it launch, do not expect to be have a "playable" sim.

This one is a "grafics" sim so you need a good rig to make it work.
If you can run SH4 on your actual system properly you should not have troubles with PT-Boats.
IMHO

In My Case, I Have The Geforce 6200 Card. The Requirements States The Game Supports This Card. I Run SH4 With No Trouble. I Think This Game Has Bugs That Need Fixing.

Yes i dont think its graphics problem because 'dale' experiences exactly the same problem as me and our system varies greatly from CPU to graphics card.

This game is buggy and comes patched to 1.1. The first time I installed the game, I did not install the physx nvidia driver and the game would not run at all. The second attempt I made sure I installed the physx driver and the xvid driver and game the runs quite slow at times on my 7800gt and does crash.

Best advice:-

1) install physx and xvid drivers on installation

2) update your directx drivers as the dvd only have the june 2008 update

3) start on directx 9.0c in the option box and not directx 10

4) game does start up slow even on my 7800gt, so pray they release a v1.2 patch by checking their website regularly.

I have not checked the minimum system requirements for the game, but you guys are never going to play this game properly as your cards are so underpowered. Even on low graphics on 1680 x 1050 resolution, my card is stutters when in combat mode.
