Default SH 4 or wait for SH5

Hello fellow submariners! I was just curious everyone's opinion on buying SH4 to keep me occupied until SH5 comes out or just wait until SH5 launches and play other games. I have played SH3 a lot, and I still love the game. I just recently bought a laptop which is a huge upgrade compared to my old desktop. My old desktop was too slow to run SH4 decently, so I never bought the game, but I always wanted to try the Pacific Theatre to compare and contrast the two different theaters of operations. I would appreciate any replys. It would mean a lot coming from a great community such as SubSim. Thank you.

I would go ahead and get SH4 and enjoy the PTO, it's a very different war than the ATO and think you will like it. I assume you are familiar with mods and to really enjoy SH4 mods are a must. I use TMO.

One nice thing about playing fleet boats is that you get to WIN the war and with a little skill and luck you can survive from start to finish. Something very few U boats had the chance to do. Things get better for the fleet boats and only worse for a U boat.

I never played SH3 but from what I hear the graphics are so much better in 4.

Welcome to the Fourm, good luck and good hunting.

Funny how that's usually the biggest criticism leveled against SH4. "But a computer game is supposed to get harder as you go along." I find it a nice change of pace.

Go get SH4. They need the monetary support for SH5

SH4 Rocks! SH5 doesn't exist yet. There is no choice now. Even after SH5 is finally published you will need SH4 to play the Pacific. So it will still be the current game in its area of the war.

SH4 is an essential purchase for anybody with even a passing interest in Sub-sims. The Silent Hunter series is the best dedicated Sub-sim franchise that has a wonderful modding community working tirelessly to improve each new installment. The good news is GWX4 is soon to be released for SH4 and that's almost as big a deal as a new Subsim coming out. Enjoy.
