Okedoke I have finally got a system that will support GWX and I am so excited because I stopped playing vanilla so long ago in anticipation of GWX. I am on my first patrol and one question I have because I have already forgotten (noob question) is the first patrol a shakedown patrol? I have spotted several British merchants on my way through the channel and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to attack as this is 39'. Also I am playing on an easier difficulty due to the fact that I have forgotten much of SH3, does the arrow on the ship (the color) when using the master sight or periscope have anything to do with the target? Any help and future pointers would be appreciated thanks alot!

Welcome to GWX Herr Kaluen!!
![]() As far as your question.. depends on the month. Check your map is GB red? But usually first patrol is just a shakedown.

Aren't you using the SH3 Commander? You can choose to start the campagin at any date (preferably after 1 september) and also choose how much to stay in base after a patrol. I've cranked that up to 6 weeks because I was tired of making 12-20 patrols per year. Plus maaaaaaaany other usefull things

The coloured arrow indicates how good your solution to target is. Green means good, unless the target changes course it's usually a hit. Yellow means it's iffy and red means you've got no chance.

Yep, with GWX3 you start your first patrol a whole month before the war begins. Enjoy the sights, or end it as soon as it starts and go for the next one. As karamazovnew said, SH3 Commander is the best tool ever made for the game, and allows you to choose the month, or change the Days In Base (or randomize the same).
Don't leave port without it.

If you start 1st August you will receive a radio message on 4th ordering you back to base.
Assuming you use SH3 Commander and have the days in port set at 20, you will then be able to commence your second patrol and head out for your patrol grid a little more than a week before the commencement of hostilities just like it happened in RL. |
