Funny I'm not so sure. Stupid very much so.

I had just loaded TMO and was getting a handle on all the new keyboard and new buttons. Came across "Set Planes for deep dive" Wonder what this does? CLICK It dives the boat with no limit, no problem right? Just level the boat out Right? Wrong I was at 32X time compression and found myself at 700+ ft. before I could level out. Somehow I didn't die but made it to the surface with no damage.

In stock the "E" key is emergency surface, hit it instead of "W" and surfaced right in front of a IJN task force. Didn't survive that one.
Disabled the "E" key right afterwords.
In TMO the "E" key cycles the aft tubes, set up a stern shot. Fire 7;
Fire !: Fire 2, what the heck, I had hit "W" by mistake.

There is a small island at the entrance to Pearl (I think) ran into it not once but twice???????? Did I mention I am a slow learner?

Got a couple years experance under my belt and don't make those kind of mistakes anymore.

Making the mistake of thinking Japanese merchants are unarmed at the beginning of the war like the Allied ones...

yeah modding can have great effects
A while ago when I was trying to make playable depth charges I got some funny problems: 1st I had premature detonations, causing my small flower CO to make pirouettes. It just kept turning around standing on its bow for about 30 secs before sinking.
When I had finally solved that problem all DCs I launched turned around when sinking, eventually ending up flying to the moon.
I managed to dig up some screenshots:

My funniest moment on patrol probably was a time when some stupid Japanese destroyer captain thoughtlessly raced towards my presumed position, not noticing the rest of the convoy was in its way. It caused a massive traffic jam all the way up to tokyo, giving me a great chance to pick out a few extra targets as none of the ships could move an inch without colliding.

Talk about modding, after playing around this carrier did fine until I attacked it, then it bounced around forever before sinking.

I started this campaign with the Tang and knew is real life she was lost and I have been waiting for the following message. ComSubPac has sent me a message stating I am over due and presumed lost. I hate to tell them but I am exactly where they sent me area A5 to patrol a 108nm for the next four days. All joking aside, a moment of silence for the USS Tang SS-306 and her crew on eternal patrol.

Actually, most of my funny SH4 moments happen in RL...while playing SH4...
lets see...
RFB once got me so jumpy...my phone rang next to my hand and i jumped, resulting in me falling off my PC chair to my friends death by laughter

When eating dinner downstairs, I live on the upper floor, I would leave my volume turned up to the point where I could hear it downstairs, Imagine my parents' confusion when you would hear a muffled "ship spotted" followed by their son setting his food down and tearing up the stairs

I once forgot to reset my X-Y coords when i would import a model so i would load up the game and discover to my horror that my sub is sticking halfway out of the water

EDIT:
@Mush, i fell out of my chair laughing when i saw that picture, thats a movie you really only want to see twice.

At the very least there are no aircraft still stuck by super duper glue on the deck!!!

Mine was funnier more for the others in the room at the time than me, although I did laugh later.

I had gotten pounced on by a pair of Vals, so I was darting around while my AA crew tried to pick them off. They got one pretty good and sheared off its tail, so that it started spiraling in. I was on the bridge doing evasive maneuvers at the surface, just concentrating on the rudder control, when all of a sudden the Val that had just got shot down crashes right into my bow, cartwheels into the air, then comes back down and hits the sea. It freaked my out, just hearing the totally random loud CLANG and then seeing the Val spinning comically in the air, but I immediately assumed I'd taken damage and went to check. There was no damage though, I guess "debris" and things like that don't constitute things that can damage your boat, fortunately (or unfortunately, for the realism).

Also, my brother happened to be in the room watching when all this happened. He was on the floor laughing.

Yep, I ran out of AA ammo with a bomber attacking... So I made good use of the deck gun.

I took a lot of hits on the bow and went to periscope depth. I didn't stop diving nose first. Emergency surface didn't work. At about 436 feet I took a gamble. I leveled the plains and went to back emergency, and I backed out of the water.

I sank two ships with one torpedo when 2 destroyers were going to make a formation attack. I took out the steering of 1 ship and the other one slammed into it; snapping them both in half.
