XXI starting ship

Hi All,

I've been wanting to try an XXI in campaign mode for a while now but never have been bothered to get enough renown to get one (or i get killed before i can get enough!) - Is there a way to make the XXI your starting ship? Or any other easy ways to make it mine?

By the way i forgot to mention that i'm running GWX 3.0

There's a mod for this in the Mods forum.

Start a new campaign from Apr 1944 or later, 11th Flotilla, and select Type XXI as your boat in SH3 Commander.

If you want to use XXI from the beginning of the war, look at this mod.

I was originally using a VIIB and was doing fairly well with it, sinking over 300,000 tons of ships. I decided to try the XXI and now I'm spoiled on it. It's a beast! Last night however I decided to try the IXC and still managed to repeatedly attack a convoy and sink over 60,000 tons of shipping, so I know I've "still got it" and I'm not using the XXI as a crutch! I just love that lightning fast reload time and snorkel. The only thing I miss on the VII series is the deck gun for finishing off wounded or stranded vessels. Gotta use another torpedo.
