What patches to install?

I just installed SH4 and started playing. I played SH3 since its release but time to move on. Cant wait to play on my new gaming computer. I know there are patches to install for upgrading the game versions and for bug fixes and such. I was wondering what patch to upgrade to so I can still be able to download mods and use them. Is there such a thing as only certain mods work for only certain versions? Any other advice for anything would be great. Thank you!


P.S. Could anyone give me a good website for getting all different kind of mods?

Patch 1.4 is the last free patch. The U-Boat missions are 1.5 and that is where the mods are headed, most are already 1.5 only. It's only ten bucks and though I never play the U-Boat side, it is worth the money for the patch and the upgrades.

As far as mods goes, there is no other place like right here. Just visit the SH4 Mods Workshop and you will get your fill and then some.
