i noticed most new ships added to the game have different looking "_shp" files for them than stock ships have and i want to know why and how they work.
the "_shp" files for all stock ships are whitish images of the ships shape from above it and its sort or transparent but for all the newly added ships this "_shp" file is just a tiny small black dot that has no shape. so how does that file work and what is it used for? why isnt this new "_shp" file made to look like the stock ships "_shp" files? |

If it's what I'm thinking of (and I'm not at my SH4 PC right now) then it's the graphic file used when you go to close zoom on the nav map. It's changed to red, blue or green depending on whether it's friendly or not.

yeah that's right. I too see (at least on my RFB+OM install) just a black dot. I think it's done for realism as in real life you can't see the ship from above either.
