Slow developing bug.
I am making a sub cruisier mod and while testing it I came across a slow to develop bug.
It involves the twin 40 mm and the aft conning tower position on a modified late war Sargo Conning tower. The twin 40 would cause the game to crash when manually firing it. However, this did not develop until well into the patrol. It worked for the first 3 weeks into the patrol and was fired manually on numerous occasions. So I was wondering if anyone has encountered this before and if so what did they do to fix it. Thanks.

well i know that most often when you think you did things right but find issues like that it can be a result of somewhere along the line you made changes and forgot to uninstall one of your mods before doing it.
the best way to be sure is delete all mods in jsgme and replace them with fresh new copies from backup files or new downloads. then delete the entire data folder from sh4 programs folder and replace it with your backup copy of it. if you never made one then uninstall and reinstall the game. after all this you know everythings clean and uncorrupted so the only thing left is your mod. go through it carefully and check all your settings but it would be best to begin anew from a fresh clean start if its not too much trouble. if the problem returns then it is definately your mod, but i doubt it because if somethings wrong it usually works or it doesnt but i havent seen things that change on there own. |

Do the mods themselves get messed up too or just the game itself?

the way jsgme works is it moves the stock file to a backup folder and puts the mods folder there but it only moves whats being put in so it can be the whole folder or just a file or two from it. now when you mod something it has changed the file so when you go to unistall the mod, jsgme cant find the file it put there because it has changed and it wont move something close it has to be exactly what it put there otherwise it would not know whats a game folder or a mod folder. now if it cant find the folder it gets left in the game but this also means the stock folder gets left in the backup files in jsgme. because of this the mod has files missing from it and its corrupted and the game has missing files along with altered mod files left in place so it gets corrupted. you can also get this thing called mod soup where so many mod files are installed on top of each other and if you uninstall them in the wrong order from how you installed them then they dont all go back to where they belong and you get the same sort of situation with the wrong files going to the wrong places. thats why its best if you have a group of mods you always use then merge them into one mod so there is less chances for errors. it all comes down to leftover files in the wrong places. now text files are worse because you only need to change one line of text with an extra comma or something and jsgme will not recognize it to uninstall it. |

I know I read somewhere in the forums that a late war sub conning tower has a problem with the twin 40 but I do not know how it is resolved or even which sub it was.
