I just made a dual install of Silent hunter 4
after some serous CTD problems (associated with my operation Monsun files) I got it working this morning. after I tried a couple of campaigns, i go to save my last one and the second I hit the save button my monitor brings up a "refresh rate over limit" or something along that line, and now I can't do anything on my pc. Can't tap F8 until i can start it in safe mode, cant do anything at all my gut says its my RAM (3 gigs) or my external HD (500 gigs and its where my SH4 games are stored) anybody have a similar problem...please dont tell me i have to replace my monitor!

First check your documents on the monitor. What is the top refresh rate? Did you ask SH4 to refresh (in your graphics option interface inside the SH4 game) higher than what your monitor can handle? In other words, mine is set up to 1280x1020 at 60hz inside the SH4 game as this is the best my monitor can do, 60hz. Also, monitors do have drivers other than the basic driver provided by Windows. You have this driver and up to date with it from the manufacturer website or disc that came with the monitor ? I would check these areas first.

Last time my screen when funky was an lighting strike in my neighborhood. This was an old CRT though and there was a degauss (spelling) function that fixed it. I'm not sure what a power surge would do to a LCD. Sounds like you are making some headway.
