Hi everyone,
What is your best known horror movie ? I'm the person who likes to watch horror movies right next after movies of WW2 ![]() I always admire Stephen Kings works for his ability to open the purest fear in our minds. But last night I watched Quarantine all alone at night: I must confess I was so damn affraid I could hardly remember when I was so much excited before, sitting in my room with my eyes wide open even after the movie for an hour or so ![]() I think it is so immersive cuz it's been done in first person camera view all the time. ![]() Just watch it if you haven't seen it, it's really not some sort of cheap stuff ![]() |

Loved Kubrick's take on "The Shining". I saw it at the cinema when I was 13 and thought WOW!
Much scarier than the usual "don't open the door! Don't do it!" teen slashers like "Scream" or "Friday the 13th". Loved the Japanese version of "Ring" and "Juon" too. Very little gore but lots of creepiness! On the oher hand, I really love bucket o blood b grade zombie movies, especially with a bit of comedy thrown in. "Tokyo Zombie", "Shaun of the Dead" "Planet Terror" all worth a look.

I still think Alien was the creepiest horror movie for the impression it made on me at the time. The sequels kinda eroded the viseral experience of the first one. Silent Hill was another that kinda got under my skin.

The scariest movie I ever watched, even to this day, Black Sabbath starring Boris Karloff (1963). It is a series of shorts that would have me hiding under the blankets when i was a kid. That dead lady who wanted her ring back freaked me out everytime.

1982 "The Thing" was hands down scary as hell. A remake from the 50's. This time, it was more diabolical. An alien encased in ice is discovered and comes to life. It has the ability to become any life form it has come into contact with and use that life form abilities. So, each person at this mine in the perma frost does not know if the alien has touched anyone thus being able to take their form. No one trusts anyone! Man, you talk about nuts. Best parts of the move are linked below. Do not eat anything with tomato sauce will watching

As for me I like horror movies which action is closely linked to happen in real life.
The best I could think of is actually a deadly viruses, dangerous genes experiments, mutating zombies and all that biohazardous threat to mankind has always freaked me out when I start to think about it, you know like in the Resident Evil 1 or Quarantine. Who knows maybe there are already top secret military facilities somewhere, where these kind of viruses has been already developed ![]() |

When I saw the title of this thread the first movie that poped in my head was "The Thing" and sure enough Warhawk mentioned it in the 4th post. Absolutly the best psychological horror movie. And in the end who is really infected. Personally I think Kurt was. In the director's cut they havea commentary on whether or not one would know he was infected or not. I highly suggest the DC with the commentary.

The Amityville Horror was a standout for me. That house was just creepy.
