Default Trouble Navigating St. Nazaire pens

Anyone else have difficulty getting out of subpen row in St. Nazaire (using BBW's version)? I have to be so damned careful not to drift into a wall or any ships it makes me a nervous wreck. Any tips to make it easier (i.e. speed, plotting, etc.)?

The best bet when leaving any harbor is to stay under 2/3's. I learned that the hard way when I ordered ahead standard out of Wilhemshaven and rearended a minesweeper that left before me.

Edit: Also don't forget the u-boats turn wide so plot your course so you can make full turns.

Trial and error
I leave the pen and then swing a course right
Usually overshoot a lil then correct
Using waypoints of course

I have to admit to leaving port at way above the harbour speed limits

:rotfl:

Poor ole French fishing boat crossed my bows too slow

Take your time and enjoy the harbor, ships and surroundings. If you want to skip all this, use the option to start at sea in SH3CMDR.

I did think about that but the graphics change stumped me
A course is simple to do although the only one left is a bit screwy

Could easily use the Kiel ones as when you have left Germany no need for them any more

mmmmm,
Probably would need to do this via SH3CMDR as the files would need to be changed in '40.
I still think you can occasionally use the harbor and other times start at sea as a good compromise.
Personally, I like to leave the harbor and check out the ships and nurses.
Actually, I like to check out nurses all the time.
