Playable IJN Kaidai 3b submarine - stand alone -

IJN Kaidai 3B v 1.6 Stand alone

They were designed to operate with the surface fleet, and were in the end credited with major successes against the US Navy.

The 33 boats of the Kaidai type sank 38 merchants and auxiliary ships totaling 146,948 tons and seriously damaged another eleven ships totaling 57,382 tons in total.


This variant (I-156, I-157, I-158, I-159, I-60) was made up of 5 boats which differed in the shape of their bow and conning towers from the Kaidai 3A.

known issues :

the 8 tubes do work, but there are only 6 selection lights on the peri and uzo views for now, all those are for the fore tubes.

to select the aft tubes (VII and VIII) either switch tubes using "W", or use the selection knob of the attack map (it shows all tubes I-VIII) or go to the torpedo loadout and select the tube.

It is stand alone and doesn't replace the german boats, it adds a good IJN submarine !

verify that you have no other boat installed : in the updatage\UPCUnitsData you'll find the UnitParts3Kaidai3b file replace the 3 with the next number after your other installed subs.

since there are normally only 2 subs (XVIII and IXD2) mine is number 3.
