Problems installing GWX3.0

Hello guys,
I am having troubles installing GWX3.0. I believe I am doing something wrong and I think that there was a thread how to COMPLETELY uninstall SH3 from the drive but I can't find it. Here are the steps I have followed to try to install GWX3.0:
1) Disabled all mods on my previous installation of SHIII
2) Uninstalled GWX2.1
3) Deleted SH3 directory from My Documents
4) Installed fresh copy of SHIII
5) Tried to patch it to v1.4b - Here I encountered first problem: For some reason it would not go through (something about wrong version of some .dll). I tried to run vanilla and in start up screen in right bottom corner it says v1.4 (not 1.4b) but I thought that it came already patched from the DVD so I decided to continue to installation of GWX3.0
6) After I select the dir in GWX3.0 I am getting this following message:

So I am stuck. Can somebody clear for me what I am doing wrong?
Many thanks!

Sounds to me like you only uninstalled the mod but forgot to uninstall the base game. If you don't have it in the list of Installed Programs it might help to just delete your Silent Hunter 3 directory and start all over.

If you installed to default location it should be c:\program files\silent hunter 3

The directory under my documents just contains settings, save games and files like that if I am not mistaken.

The installer has detected a file in your system.

Insert the SH3 game disc and use the uninstall/remove option.

Check C\Program files and delete SH3 folder if found.

Delete SH3 folder from C\MyDocs.

Perform a registry clean.

Install a fresh installation of SH3 and patch it to 1.4

Ensure the GWX3.0 exe and all 7 bin files are in the same folder.

Double click on the exe and point it to your vanilla installation.

Good Luck

I had the same problem when I was setting up my vanilla for when my download finished. It's due to not deleting the SH3 directory after deleting the program. A re-delete and a few quick tosses into the recycling bin, and everything works awesomely.

You know...it's a testament to the hard work of the modders when it's harder to install the vanilla game and it's upgrades than it is the mod.
