Default The most expencive naval exercise to date.

Im no surface skipper but i have dabbled a bit in commanding perrys i worked on a exercise that takes place in the shallowish waters of the north sea it involves the navies of the UK USA and Germany heres a report

A long time coming

Christmas day will never be the same again for the crews of four ships which suffered verious accidents while on exercise this morning in the north sea.
It is reported that atleast two ships on from the Royal Navy and one from the US Navy will have to be dry docked and put out of commission for the majority of the new year.

The first incident took place at 0330 this morning the American frigate USS Hallyburton FFG40 was rammed by her british escort partner HMS Edinburgh at aproximatly 20 knots, the damage was so severe both ships began to take on water and list while still in the thames estury.

Both ships remained afloat and the Hallyburton managed to limp back into tilbury harbour by this afternoon while HMS Edinburgh damaged still managed to continue with the exercise.

It seemed all would not go right and only a few hours later two sea hawk helicopters collided on take off from the USS Carl Vinson a nimitz class carrier causing minor damage to her flight deck casualties are still unclear none have been reported so far.

As the exercise drew to a close this afternoon training shots fired from a German frigate the emden struck another US Frigate exactly like the hallyburton causing severe structural damage the USS De Wert a perry class frigate lost her main mast to the huge volly of 4.5 inch rounds which were aimed at the targets some 3 miles away.

in all the exercises did not achieve thier main objective of the anti piracy training and has so far caused hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damage and left three ships out of commission for months, it is known the captain from HMS Edinburgh was relieved of his command earlier this afternoon for causing the collission to which he will face a court marshall.

Another exercise is planned for early january.

needless to say my scenario didnt go at all right ! should stick to submarines.
