Default This is what DW should have liked

Amazing polygon counts. Infantry modeling. Even the jet's canopy opens up...
beautiful smoke trail effects, ship interior modeling......Naval warfare game has never looked so good.

Nice find, Castout...

I wanna buy that game!(WarGames, anyone?)

Though I'd shudder at the system requirements:hmm:

Doesn't that remind you why you like naval warfare and bought DW in the first place? . If only DW was as close as Silent Hunter III in terms of graphics quality.

And did you notice the Typhoon had a waterfall display and it was green........

I'll say only this, the game makers have friggin forgetten that history continues beyond 1945. Every game that has a military aspect in it, is always about WW2.
Naval series such as SH II/III/IV/I (with updated graphics and mods). FPS, even Air simulations. What the hell happened to the Corean War ? Why no love for it ?
What about the Vietnam War ? Also forgetten. And the friggin Cold War ? Its as if it has completely disapeared from the collective minds of game designers. It didin't last 2-3-4 years, it lasted half a century !!!! and we have not a single game (simulation) that is based on CW.
The game industry should really improve its historical component.

Which is why I've been playing older games, like Red Storm Rising and my favorite flightsim ever, Fleet Defender, since they both have excellent cold war/ww3 campaigns...

Yeah, sims/games set in a Korean/Vietnam/Cold War setting are few and far inbetween ... I only know one Flightsim with a Korean War setting and the number of games in the vietnam war setting isn't that high either (at least sim wise - there are a number of FPS games out and about). As far as cold war goes, the only game that comes right to mind would be "Panzers - Cold War" but that unfortunatly hasn't even been released yet. Aside from that, while I'm sure there are one or more games around for that setting I would say that you are right on the spot ... Game/Sim Developers just concentrate on everything else (preferably WW2) opposed to anything that happend between 1950 and 1990 (give or take 5 years on each end).

I'm not sure whats the reason for this ... if I had to hazard a guess I would say that WW2 was the last truly "moral justified" war plus its very well documented and whatever game you wanna make you will find a place for it within the WW2 setting (from FPS to RTS and everything in between and beyond).
