Hello.
Although the phenomenon is a rare one and only occurring during stormy seas, any indication of it is a dissing one. I want to eliminate the occasional "tiles in the water" scrolling past the boat and the odd ship or two, seen only in external camera. It is an almost translucent pattern that is removed by changing the viewing angle. And again, it is only in rough waters. I know it may be resolved by a video card software adjustment, but I don't know which one. I am certainly reticent to start experimenting, aware of community knowledge being available at the asking. Memory allocation definitely had a bearing on the image; I run an app called FSAutoStart twice in succession before SHCommander3.0 to get the most beautiful results. ![]() If someone (or ones) will educate me on the quick and easy / down and dirty of which setting to adjust, I will drink a bourbon then sink a merchant in your honor. I mean that. ![]() I am: Pentium IV 3073 MHz Windows XP Prof. Svc. Pack 3, current updates 512.00 MB Total Memory 2.00 GB Virtual Memory NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT, 256.00MB AGP, latest driver, resolution 1280x1024 32bit DVDRW 3743.12 kbytes/sec Transfer Rate I use: SH3 with last Official Update Latest GWX (2.1, i think) SH3Commander ver. 3.0 nHancer FSAutoStart Let me say again that the picture is gorgeous, and I may be dissing over something that everyone sees. But it is most likely a cacheing setting that I am unaware of. I say that because of the improvement(s) I witnessed from updated drivers, nHancer, and FSAutoStart. Wiser minds will out. Thank you. Reverie P.S. What is the story with AGP video cards ? I learned years ago that it was the wave of the future, a dedicated video port, and that PCI couldn't compare. All I see are PCI cards on the market. I sawr a 256MB AGP nVidia selling new for something like $30 - 50s, when I spent almost a dollar a MB for mine less than two years ago. And worse, the greater capacity PCI cards are in the upper price range. I would welcome a 512MB video card, but am afraid the expense of a PCI card would merit me the results I get from an AGP of less RAM. Enlightenment ? Thank you. Reverie P.S.S. Send your Xmas Donations to SUBSIM; courageous and worthy uboat crews need your support. |

You could try with a new card but with a AGP slot on your motherboard you will have little choice to make. The new PCI express slot means double the bandwidth. The standard today is PCI express 2.0 and all the new videocards work with this standard. However there are a few modern video cards that have been released for a AGP slot.
I believe that ATI has a Radeon 3850 for an AGP slot and it is a good entry level card, but you must take into consideration your PSU because these new card need more power than the old ones. Another option will be a complete upgrade of your PC For example: in 2002 AGP 8x slot had a potential bandwidth of 2gb/s in 2004 PCI express 1.0 had 8gb/s in 2007 PCI express 2.0 has 16gb/ |

If you live in USA or CANADA here's 2 possible choices for AGP.

I strongly recommend the Radeon 3850, because is the best in its class if you are not in a position to change the PC completly

If you do decide to go with a newer AGP card, bear in mind that they have their own seperate power socket and you'll need a power supply that can provide a steady 24 amps on the 12-volt rail. Most 500w PSUs can deliver this. Bear in mind that ATI and nVIDIA are both getting spotty with their support for AGP.

Yes, I have that thread saved to disk. It was what prompted me to nHancer. Very pleased. Reverie |
