First, some info on my new system and SH3:
Intel C2Q 9650 3.0 gh CPU nVidia (BFG) GTX 260, 896 mb GPU Clean SH3, patched to 1.4b, GWX 2.1 SH3commander 3.1.3 I read a previous post, somewhere here, stating that I should add the "SH3Cmdr.exe" to the "executables" window in nHancer, under the Silent Hunter III profile. Why is that? AFAIK, opening SH3 from SH3commander shouldn't change the way graphics setting work for SH3? Are there any recommended graphics settings for SH3, that you can share, which should be used in nHancer? I realize that a few are "user preferences"...but not many. In my experience a game will have limitations for many of the available settings in nHancer and these settings are pretty much "do or die". Things like AA, AF, vertical sync, etc., etc. are best placed in some setting, no matter what GPU, CPU you have, for that game. Thanks guys. Vic |

Running a search should yield a very nice thread with all the info you want step by step. Worked great for me.
You would add SH3 Commander exe into nHancer to automatically enable the profile when you launch commander, but this doesn't work with the latest nVidia drivers anyway so don't worry too much about it. |

Running a "search" yields untold amounts of threads...but I finally found the one I THINK you mean...but who knows. Searching is overrated when dealing with 9 pages of threads, especially when many contain over 5 pages of posts each? I understand the principle of searching...believe me...but a link to the post would have been appreciated. After an hour I finally found a relatively new thread which seems to have some good info.
Thanks. |

Stickies: Most commonly asked questions are either in the title of a sticky or in the body of one. Boolean Searches: Use AND, OR, NOT in your searches. A search of nVidia AND SH3 AND Settings AND Best returns the correct thread on the first page of results, which happens to be a STICKY. CTRL+F: Once you have a page of results, why not us CTRL+F on the results page or in a thread to quickly find the word(s) you are looking for? You can keep clicking search to find the next instance of the word(s) quickly and easily. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...Vidia+Settings |

I still say searching for many subjects, which happen to have large amounts of possible threads...each one with many posts...can lead to hours and hours of browsing. I'm sorry you feel the statement is "ridiculous". I don't recall asking anyone to "search for me"...let alone you. I was hoping for someone with information "at hand" and "readily available" to reply...saving me the pain and wasted hours of trying to find the "needle in a haystack". Perhaps a link known to them or personal experience...to help me avoid hours of searching. Barring that I would have continued my quest for information, on my own...without your suggestion that I search for some nebulous post you alluded to.
In the future please keep in mind that I DO search first...and when confronted with too many threads I will ALWAYS ask for the kind help of those who may have that information handy and wait for informed replies while I go on to sinking tonnage or flying aircraft or whatever it is I would like to do...other than winnowing facts from too many posts. I'm sorry if you do not understand this but, in a forum such as this, with so much information...the "try searching" answer becomes less and less viable . You are asking me to spend hours when I could go on with my life and have some kind soul, with the information I'm looking for, reply tomorrow, or whenever, with exactly what I need. Please...don't tell me to search in the future...if I'm asking a question here I have already searched, deemed the amount of information that results to be too cumbersome and am asking for help from somebody who may actually have the info readily available to them to relate to me...not somebody telling me to search...been there, done that, obviously. I will tell you this...I have never asked anyone to " do a search", in any forum I participate in...gaming, graphics or otherwise. If I know the answer, I reply with it. If I know the location of the answer, I post the link. Otherwise, I keep my mouth shut. You can rest assured that any future requests for nHancer settings here, by nVidia users trying to tune their SH3 profile, will not be met with "try a search" by me. I will post links to up to date info, if I have any, and will also include my experiences with these settings, what I've tried to improve them and any other info I can possibly provide...free of charge and without a "search" whine. THAT is "community"...THAT is helping a fellow simmer out. To everyone else here...thanks for all your help, gang...I have found all those answers I needed to get me back up and running SH3, GWX and SH3commander! ![]() Vic |

It would appear I mistook your comment. My aplogies. I felt that searching is not a problem in this case since it took me 2 seconds to find the appropriate thread all 4 times I've had to go and find it. I have spent quite a bit of time searching through the forums looking for topics on my question at hand, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to do so for me.
The mistake was most likely mine. I would humbly suggest however, that stating that you found nothing in your search might be more effective than using language that suggests you can't be bothered to try it. |
