Default Installing music/radio mods...

Hi all,

my post in the original thread is not really being answered (dying to play )

Trying to install some 1940s and CBS radio files, but not quite sure how to do it.

Do I install using JSMGE? Do I put the rar files directly in the "MODS" folder for the program to take care of it?

Thansk in advance!

Default to install

ok. first via JGSME
extract the radio station to the mods folder
lets say its called radio GFRS for the George Fombry Radio station:

it should have this structure:

main folder/sub folder/sub folder etc

George Fombry Radio Station/Data/Sound/Radio/GFRS (this is the name of the station)

add via JGSME

now go to your game folder, go to the Data subdirectory this way:

SH4 wolves of the pacific/Data/Sound/radio....

there you will find a file called radio ini.

first make a backup of it
open the file

it will have a structure like this:

[GENERAL]
RadioRealism=Yes
StartCh=1

[CHANNEL]
Name=KGMB Honolulu
Folder=KGMB
Freq=16
Antenna=01.01.1941-01.01.1946:21.32,-157.87:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

[CHANNEL]
Name=Washington
Folder=Washington
Freq=27
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:44.16,-35.10:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.1

[CHANNEL]
Name=KPO San Francisco 38.41
Folder=KPO\1941
Freq=38.41
Antenna=01.01.1941-01.01.1942:37.78,-122.42:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

[CHANNEL]
Name=KPO San Francisco 38.42
Folder=KPO\1942
Freq=38.42
Antenna=01.01.1942-01.01.1943:37.78,-122.42:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

[CHANNEL]
Name=KPO San Francisco 38.43
Folder=KPO\1943
Freq=38.43
Antenna=01.01.1943-01.01.1944:37.78,-122.42:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

now go and add the lines defining your new radio station:

[CHANNEL]
Name=GFRS
Folder=GFRS
Freq=185
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000
;MusicVolumeOnNews takes values from 0.01 to 1
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

note the values on antena: thats the air time interval and the two lines
Name= thats what the cursor will show when placed over the radio
Folder= thats the name of the folder containing the songs, it must be the same of your radio station.

hope this helps

OK, I'll try it tomorrow...

Seems like much work to install the mod, but I guess there is no easier to do it.

Cheers!

Default once you install

it looks hard...

but is worth it... those CBS, the BBC, our Trans Atlantic (read GERMAN) STATION,,,

you dont know the thrill of hearing the RAF tally daily kills and Winsto´s speeches...

and frankly after your first radio station.. the rest are easy

Been quite busy and finally had a chance to install the CBS radio mod.

Extracted the files to KNX folder in the order as mentioned above and installed through JGSME

Went to the radio.ini file and added extra code. Name and folder were both KNX. The only thing different I added was the frequency, I put it at 50 instead of 185.

Tried to play the radio and it just sits at freq of 50 but nothing plays...

Does the freq have to be 185 or can that be adjusted.

ALso another question, once you extract part1, do all the parts get extracted as well? That is what I thought happened, btu want to make sure.

Thanks

jason

Did you download KNX from Filefront or bts-mods.com? The version from the latter doesn't use JSGME, and therefore won't work with it. And did you put any music in the year folders inside the KNX folder? If there's no music there, you won't hear anything until a scripted event file is set to play. Also, did you do any other editting of the radio.ini info besides the frequency change? You did keep the .41, .42, etc. in the frequencies?

And yes, all parts should extract automatically.

Well I guess thats my problem right there. I dld from the BTS site and used JSGME...

Not sure if I put music in the folders or not. I just created subfolders in my MODS folder and exctracted KNX to them directly. I then ran JGSME and afterwards modified the radio.ini file (backing it up of course). Funny, the .42, .41 did not exist in the ini file when I modified. Just had the washington station and thats it. All I added was

[CHANNEL]
Name=GFRS
Folder=GFRS
Freq=185
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000
;MusicVolumeOnNews takes values from 0.01 to 1

after the washington station.

Fred, sorry if I'm a complete ignoramus on installing this mod. Couldn't find the readme stating the filefront versus the bts downloading. I'll take another look at the readme file included in the KNX folders.

Thanks,

Jason
