Default Vista64 + Nvidia 8800 Issues

I opened this thread just because there are so much trouble in many bulletin boards about the combination Vista64+Nvidia 8800 Graphic Card+ SH4 1.5 so i think every solution should be annouced.

I had so many CTD and BOSD since Feb 08 that i was so dispaired. Always installed the newest Nvidia Driver but only the frequency of the crashes altered. The solution for my Computer came from Microsoft. :hmm:

In the Microsoft Download Center, section DirektX you get for Vista64 "directx_aug2008_redist.exe".
I didnt download only the enduser runtime but the whole package which is about 80mb to be sure to get any possible update. And now for more than 72 hrs no more crashes.

Vista 64
Nvidia Driver 177.79 Beta
Microsoft directx_aug2008_redist.exe

I can vouch from personal experience that the fault is in all likelyhood not with Windows 64.

So I suspect it is with the card or the drivers for the card with a Vista 64 system.

Not having had problems with Vista64 and never having had a 8800 card I can offer no solutions.

Sorry and may your good luck continue.

I've had problems with My 8800 when booting into Vista, and the problem seemed to make Crysis crash constantly, until I updated the Drivers, now all is well.

Visit this thread:

Follow the directions. Grab the appropriate Vista64 bit drivers. This will fix your problem. It did for me at least.
