I don't know for sure, but I have had numerous times I have been dc'ed badly, but couldn't escape due to shallow waters (the med is a bitch in certain places). After evading all the dc'ing from a trawler and a dd, they stopped dc'ing, but kept following and overpassing me. This led me to believe they were out of dc's, but didn't want to let me escape.

Yes they do. I attacked the task force and two distroyers kept debth chargeing me. After a fiew hours (game time) they stoped and just kept going over top of me.

GWX team members have said in the past that DDs in GWX carry "historical quantities" of depth charges. but this depends on your realism settings. the enemy AI is held to some of the same realism standards as you hold yourself to. sooo... if you play on 25% realsim, they will be able to carry a lot more depth charges.
they will run out. they will also continue to make depth charge runs against you without dropping anything. you will know this is the case when they rush over you in an attack run but nothing happens. also there is a depth charge limitation of 300 meters if i remember correctly ... due to stock issues the depth charges simply dissapear once they reach 300m

the destroyer will set the depth of the detonation based on what he thinks your depth is... if he thinks you are at 200 meters they blow at 200... if he thinks your at 80 meters they blow at 80 meters.
the limit is 300 meters.... meaning ... when the depth charge reaches 300 meters, if it has not yet exploded, it will simply dissapear without exploding. in theory... if your sub was capable of diving to a depth deeper that 300 meters. you would never get hit by DCs

Thanks for answers. I've seen u-boat crew counting depth charges explosions when they are attacked by destroyers on documentry footages.
Why they did that ? Did they knew how many depth charges destroyer has ? |
