A Comforting Face

Down here in Texas, as most of you can imagine (I know Neal can vouch with me), the hurricane has been stirring up some trouble. I went down to the local Burger King today and ordered a Loaded Steakhouse Burger. I looked out the window at the drive through, and saw this lost kitten down by the bushes.

After picking up the food, I asked the attendant if he'd seen the cat before. Apparently, it had been there for several days (three or four). I drove back around and parked towards the east end of the lot, got out of the car, and finally trapped the kitten.

He's a Siamese, probably about a month and a half old. Poor guy had oil on his head, but I cleaned him off when we got home. His tail is broken and his leg has a gash in it. He's so skinny that I can feel all his vertebrae and his ribcage. He's also pretty ill. Friendly little guy, but I'm worried about him. He's not doing too well. He's sleeping right now. It's about 4:15 AM here, and I should probably join him for the night, lol.

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow when I get my camera working.

Take care of it, and see a doctor. Well done to accept the responsibility!

Don't write that kitten off too early, for it could prove to be sturdy (cats have nine lives...): broken bones can heal, and if it has no damage to it's organs and no virus infection, with patience, caretaking and some love you have a fair chance to save it.

Make sure you go to a vet's with it (and be prapared for the bill

). Then try to learn as much about cats as possible (read books, ask people who have cats etc.) and you might have a new friend in no time.

I will concur with both Skybird and Schroeder in saying that it is imperative that you take the cat to a competent veterinarian as soon as humanly possible.

Jesus, don't let my Rose hear about a stray cat. We're already in the process of being adopted by cat number 3. That's quite enough.

I remember some story where a pair of dogs or cats was named Anthrax and Ebola. and I knew one guy in berlin who had a Rottweiler wioth constantly bad mood, named (pronounce German) Tee-Drei-Vier (T-34) The beast was a tank indeed, and it was in a bad mood all day long.

But what has your cat done to deserve that name?

When I was a child our cat had 4 male kittens. I named them Hitler, Stalin, Franco & Mussolini. Well, Adolf, Joe, Frank and Duke :p

Some nice cats you have, even though I am allergic to them I still love them

Good thing that there are people who care about animals in this world. What could we do without them?
