I rate Patrick Robinson's stuff quite highly, it's best read in the right order though. Nimitz Class is good, but with less submarine content. Kilo Class and HMS Unseen are great, Seawolf and The Shark Mutiny weren't my favourites but they're still pretty good.
Scroll down to the 'Series' bit on this page and you can get a bit of info on them: http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/r/patrick-robinson/ |

I have to try those books. Barnes was out of them so I settled on a couple by Joe Buff. They are more futuristic though.

The only Cold War submarine book I've read is Edward L. Beach's "Cold is the Sea".
It is the third book in kind of a trilogy-"Run Silent, Run Deep" and "Dust on the Sea" being the first 2. The first 2 are in WWII but the third is set during the Cold War. "Cold is the Sea" is actually the first book I read by Beach and refers to the previous 2 books in a couple of places but not so much where I was lost without having read the first 2 books. ![]()
