Default Loading saved games on patrol 4 cause "Send Error Report"?

tuddley3 from Ubisoft's own forum said that I should post my question here. Here it go's: Whenever I try to load a saved game on patrol 4, while loading near the end of the loading it gives me, "Send Error Report" every single time. I can load any of my previously saved games on patrols 1-3 work flawlessly. I have started over three times on patrol 4, sooner or later my saved games in patrol 4 just go's to hell/crashing with Send Error Report. I am not running any mods nor do I know anything about mods, I like to keep it simple. I don't see how 1-3 could have gone so nice, and all of a sudden it just craps on me like this. Surely someone else has had this same problem, I just can't believe that Ubisoft's own forums had no solution to the problem!! So I ask for your help before I toss this lovely game, I can't believe Ubisoft kicked me to the curb!

Take a look here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=109293

Some tips..........

Folks seem to have luck avoiding this nasty bug by making sure they save only when on the map screen. It also seems to be good measure to name each save individually.

For instance I use WP 1-1, WP 1-2, WP 1-3....etc....

War Patrol 1 save 1, War Patrol 1 save 2........

Nasty bug. I haven't run into it since I've adopted the same precautions, but it's still to early in my second career to tell........

i always double save games with one named "quick save" so if i mess up i can recover it. after restarting game if the quick save works ok i save it as my regular save point.

its also possable your maxing out your temp file storage on your drive.

when was the last time you did a disk cleanup and cleared your temp files?

My HDD is kept very clean and I defrag sometimes twice a week (75% free space)depending on how much I play. I name my saves mission save 1-10 in each patrol, but save over them all sooner or later. I have a pretty powerful PC, I have AF 16x, AA 8x everything max out and still running fast frames per second. The thing that gets me is every one of my 10 saves becomes unloadable after the crash - Send Error Report. Lastnight someone showed my that my short cut has gu.exe instead of sh4.exe and traced this to many problems and bug causes over at Ubisoft's forums. He said that after patching 1.4 his short cut changed from sh4.exe to gu.exe. What does yours say?

I have never cleaned this temp file storage, because the last time I deleted this temp file storage I lost a lot of stuff that I download years earlyier, like sunjava, Adode Reader, Win rar etc... I don't even know where this temp file storage is located, I can only find it if I run the cleaning disk program.

i did a new install to use 1.5 so i never loaded 1.4

the files im talking about are the temp internet files not storage files and the disk cleanup utility will purge them. you can decide how much space is used by your computer so its not about how big your hard drive is. they fill up as you use the computer so a large download or large game save can fill it up with a gig or two of data which could, i repeat could, have a slowing down effect on game saves and if it needs more room it dumps some data to make room for new data. its mainly for storing copies with all the details of web pages so they pop up faster, it doesnt have to ask what to put where because it already has this info stored in the temp files memory. its also how the computer can start right back up at the spot you paused it without reloading and without missing a beat, thats the temp files storing all that data but as the name says its temporary so it changes by what your doing.

if you've got a up to date system it should be fine though.

Are you saying theres a new patch out for SH4, or is this 1.5 patch for the expansion to SH4? So its a good idea to delete my temporary internet files before plunging into any game? Mine is set to 1GB, should I make it 2GB in size?
