rFactor is the best racing platform on the PC right now. GTR2 may have a bit more graphic polish but the wealth of mods available for rF make it untouchable.
Just check out all the tracks and cars at http://www.rfactorcentral.com/ Like any mod community, some are crap but most there are very well done. The 1988 and 1979 F1 seasons are particular standouts, as well as the Australian V8 Supercar series that includes the Mount Panorama/Bathurst track included in the Ferrari vid from the OP. I am working at getting my favorite F1 season (1991) in game now ![]() ![]() One word of note, rF should be considered mainly an online game. It has offline modes of course. You can free lap, or even do championships against the AI, but the AI is really really bad. Fortunately it is made up for by the best net code of any racing sim right now, and the ability to run dedicated servers. (If you play I run the server called Westwood Raceway). |
