Default Soviet space shuttle finally finds final hangar in Germany

The 80s, the US space shuttle and the Soviet answer to it, though it never entered regular service - those were years of magic, and every shuttle launch was a sensation.

Maybe, but given the same role and roughly the same level of technology, convergent design becomes almost inevitable. Look at submarine hulls, for example; most are very similar because their designers all perforce use the same engineering equations.

I wondered where it had ended up. I remember it coming to Australia, but it was only open for a short time as it was a flop as a tourist attraction. Last last time I saw it was mid-2000 disassembled in front of the old Sydney Casino.

I believe there is still a court case still going on about the former owners and some of the debts they left behind!

Thats the flying test model not an actual spaceworthy shuttle, the real actual Buran was destroyed in a building collapse
