Default The DavyJones Hide & Seek Attack Method

Here's a tactic I use when attacking large convoys.

1. Sub's position relative to the convoy does not matter. Just as long as you can get close fast.

2. Submerge to at least 100-200 feet going at ahead flank. Every escort will come for you.

3. Here's trhe tricky part- get under a merchant and try and stay there. The escorts cannot get close to you and may even lose your signal. Make a check for closest warship using sonar.

4. When coast is clear slip from, under merchie and let her move away enough for you to use your torps ( a minimum of 500 feet). Then get under another ship. Rinse and repeat.

With this method I sank 3 large composite freighters and 1 large modern tanker using a S-18 boat.

I don't think this method is approved by the USN. Sounds risky....they might take your Captains certificate away.

Nah, I'm already certified! But it works. Just have the guts to evade those DDs long enough to get close to a merchie. I had the whole convoy panicking. The DDs won't dare DC near their merchies.

Is the range displayed in the attack periscope in feet or yards? I always thought it was in yards.

I've been chasing convoys and attempting attacks at 1000 yards, which aren't going so well.

Are you attacking at 500 yards, or 166 yards (500 feet), or is the periscope in feet and I've been reading it wrong all this time?

I need to try this method, as I am not having much luck with convoys (made a topic about it without noticing this one )

Range is in yards or meters, depending on how you set it up.

Thank yas! Guess he meant 500 yards, probably. Maybe I'm too far, I'll try 500 on my next run.
