Default A recognition manual mod request

Hi folks

I am looking for some advice for a MOD, im currently running 1.5 with TMO and RSRD for 1.5.

I've spent hours on the forums and even know how to use the search button now

My request is this: I am looking for a recognition manual overhaul. You see there are lots of fantastic techniques for working out AoB and speed from the periscope, I find speed is quite critical to discover accurately and fast and rather than plotting. I like the kts=1.94x (lengthM/timeS) as it is remarkably accurate in a short space of time. I know however that it suffers from "periscope overexposure" but for night time its nice to have.

I know there were posts on updating the config display...which resulted in speed boat carriers, I know there have been magic numbers printed in a list by Wernersobe, but the first time i tried to use it i found an unlisted heavy cruiser. Now that i have TMO on, im not sure how much editing has gone into the ships lengths/apparent lengths and to cut a long story short I'm thoroughly confused about which MOD may break these, which mod is accurate, wether to use feet, yards or metres and so on!

So back to my request, if i may be so rude :P
-I would like the recog manual to be even darker....i play on a 30" screen and peer at it closely for night time attacks which makes my eyes bleed somewhat.
-I would like ship lengths to be displayed in an area with the measurement units clearly displayed
-It would be nice to have the AoB aspect ratio on there too.
-I would dearly love the recog manual to be moveable and display at any station - something similar to the methods that GWX used to hide sheets off screen was absolutely excellent.
-Finally i would like a modder with an established name to put a stamp of authenticity on it and say 'this is included and compatible with...' so i neednt worry about if the ranges are all going to be off due to a stadimeter change or a ship length change etc etc and its sewn up and done.

Now i know ive got no business to make requests so please treat this as a sounding board for ideas and interest in the idea. In addition I am considering on making some in-roads to doing this myself if I cant find any interest - i'm pretty sure a dirty solution would be to edit the images of ships with text on their hulls to prevent messing around with current stats, but if you saw my artwork your own recog manuals would likely set themselves on fire rather than be abused in that way

I've reached the stage in the game where i want to take on military ships and i've seen how fast they can be at picking up your scope in daylight. I would like to aim for historically accurate playing in that i want to use the scope to a minimum, to be able to plan my scope use so i gain as much info in as short a time possible. A speed estimate on a warship could be cut in half by locking and doing half the length and doubling it... in addition they tend to travel faster, i would like to see if this system is viable for dirty fast solutions and finds its way into complementing long term plotting over time. I also want to desperately stop using the pause button - I know we do the job of a team of people but the day i get my missus plotting for me i shall transcend into that "heavenly bliss" John Milne was talking about in the opening credits (love that movie/poem btw)!!!

So any thoughts please, is this being attempted currently, is this work actually worth it (to me it would be, but i'm just one person) and is there a current workaround that doesnt involve accessing 15 different XL spreadsheets and doing metric/imperial conversions on the fly for 10 minutes on pause with a seprate PC open permanently off to one side?!

Regards and thanks, especially to anyone who has contributed to my personal enjoyment over the last couple of years with SH3/4 addons, and to Ubi who get a truly sh1tty stick but without whom we would never have anything to moan about or fix

Amen, a second for this, compatible with current TMO would be great

Just started to try manual targeting myself and when it cam time to calculate AOB and Speed I discovered that no where in the recognition manual could I find the lenght of the boat.

I have the same idea:rotfl:
We need target's length data first, then we can use U-Jagd chronometer in SH4
