Default Ship Rev/Speed charts

Not sure whether this has been mentioned, but I'm busy putting together a Rev/Speed chart of all the ships.

What do you find easiest to handle using the hydrophones... Some examples:

- Revs per minute (count revs over a minute, 30 secs)
- Seconds for XX revs (count 20 revs, timing it)

Each ship in the recog manual will have it's unique chart, so all that is required..
- count the revs/time on the hydrophones
- Recognise the ship and speed (from rev/time count)
- Jam this info into the TDC
- Fire #1

This will make manual TDC operations nicer.

Will this actually work? have you done manual TDC ops using this method?

pretty cool idea.

Yes, some guys made a similar chart for SH3, where I always used manual TDC.
I've done some manual TDC testing in SH4 and it still works very much the same...

Great idea, thanks for putting this into SH4. I find getting the speed is always a game of "Guess the Knots" for me, so I will be eagerly downloading this as soon as it's ready.

- Seconds for XX revs (count 20 revs, timing it)

I'd choose that method, but it's fine with me either way.

Good luck with it and thanks again!

This is a good idea.
I vote for revs per minute.

You do know this will only work with one specific set of sounds, right? Every sound pack (of the three or four currently out there) has a different number of beats per knot for each respective ship, which also means that none of them have one beat per revolution.

I'd like to tackle the latter problem at least, but it would involve knowing how many revs per knot on each ship type and modifying the BPM of the sound file...
