Default anybody read this book?

hi all, i'm -sortof- new to the forums.. i lurk alot.. but in the next week or so i will be building a new computer and embarking on my first patrol in the pacific. the last silent hunter game i played was sh2 so i'm really looking forward to this greatly.

there was a small used book sale in our campus center today and as i was leaving after having found nothing so far i found a old copy of a book called Submarine! by Commander Edward L. Beach.. was wondering if anyone's heard of this book .. i guess the same other also wrote run silent run deep.. didn't know that : / .. but anyway the book looks pretty good. i guess the book i have was published c. 1953 by signet giants (for approx. .35 cents at the time!)

this book might have some info. modders can use for historical accuracy or ideas. just something i thought of.

well, regardless was just wanting to say hello and looking forward to sailing the seas with all of you : )

Welcome Aboard!

I just got that last month from the library and read it. A great book. What I really liked about it was the way he recreated the conversations the fire control party would have during an approach. Much more detail than other books I've read.

Default A classic

It's a WWII classic covering the U.S. Pacific submarine campaign. Any SH4 player that doesn't read it is missing out on what the war was really like.

Yup, great book. If you liked it, pick up Fluckey's Thunder Below. It is even better in my opinion.

Seconded. Thunder Below is my favorite book on the Pacific War.

Submarine Commander By Paul Schratz is another good read. Commander Schratz served as XO on several Fleet Boats, commanded the Japanese I-203 (IJN Electro-Boat version) after the War on its transit to Hawaii for evaluation and conducted war patrols off Korea during that conflict. Maps are included covering each of his various boat's war patrols. A very readable book and valuable resource for anybody interested in submarines.
Good Hunting
