Need Some Opinions on a Matter

My nephew and I were having a chat the other day (really like him, as I've mentioned before; bright and handsome kid; freshman in high school) and he got on the subject of school. He does just fine in it (A's and B's), and he came to the subject of gym class.

The conclusion I can draw off his gym teacher is that he's a grade-A idiot. The man apparently flirts with two girls that go to the school (tries on sun glasses that they bring, talks with them all the time, lets them do their hair, you get the picture). They have only dressed out twice to participate, and he (my nephew) doesn't know much more than that about them (other than there's about a 25-year difference in ages there, or so he estimates). Anyway, this guy never works out with the kids, he never really cares what they say (thousands of times kids have cursed in front of him, even uttering words such as "*******" and "s**t" and he's never done a thing to get after them for it), and other kids, according to my nephew, also must agree that the man is just stupid.

So now I'm asking you guys what you think when you hear about his gym teacher.

try to get your nephew to record some of it, and report it to the school administration or the school board.. get his ass fired!

That's what I'm thinking about. Doubtful that they will fire him (small town of only about 5,500 people), but they would at least get on his ass. I'll talk more with him tomorrow and see if we can work something out against this guy.

I think that the gym teacher is a standard P.E. teacher in high school. More than likely, he's on the coaching staff of some type of sport at the school and hears that language all of the time...probably says it more than the regular P.E. class does while he's shouting at the team.

My gym teachers never worked out with us, but that didn't sway my respect for those teachers. As for the favortism towards the girls...you'll have that no matter what class he's in. Shoot...my wife tells me all of the time how she never turned in homework in one of her classes, but always came out with at least a 'C'...and it was a woman teacher before you comment on sexism.

EDIT: With all of the new teacher-student sex scandels, you need to be careful as you have someone's career on the line because he "flirts" with the girls. If the evidence is slapping them in the face, then the administrators need to know about it, but if it's because someone feels they aren't treated as well as the others...take heed as it will come back to haunt you.

One more thing that I grew up with...It's a cruel world out there. Which brings me to an awesome quote that I gave to my former supervisor who I admired greatly and my step-son from Rocky Balboa.

It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. I know a gym teacher who used to do the same. He was very "friendly" to the girls, picked the smaller ones on the lap, invented some jokes which involved contact with the older ones, etc.

Well, the sub teacher, who was after his job, decided to report him as a pedophile, and the school, deciding to play safe, fired the guy, hiring the sub in his place.

So before you report him, if you do, offer yourself as a sub teacher first, and then report.

1. Approach in silence, observe, and collect more info.
2. If the collected data suggests it, strike.
3. If it does not, break contact.

For striking, you need to check out the situation yourself and not depend on hearsay only - even if it is coming from your nephew. You cannot look into your nephew's mind, and he may be effected by those girls himself in any way. Eventually you may want to engage a private investigator to scan the man's biography, especially regarding past school jobs.

As said above, check it out for yourself. Hearing it second hand is never the best way to go. Be sure before you say anything, a false report from you can do both damage to you and the bloke if he's inocent.

For all involved, I hope that your Nephew was seeing it wrong, but if not, best of luck!

A- (missed only like 2 days, though; can't make it up; he's happy with it).

I'm slowly creating a plan. Thanks for the feedback, guys. AVG's idea was especially helpful (no discouragement intended to anyone else).

As a note, he said that the gym teacher spends a lot of time around the girls (he talks with the a lot; I called him about an hour ago and he said that today, for instance, he spent the entire period sitting on the stands in the gym chatting with them, as he does just about everyday; today was also the instance of the sunglasses).
