Default Human Powered Sub Video and Vimeo

I just found this video hosting site Vimeo.com. It's much better than youtube and the others. First there is no time limit, like youtube's 10 minutes, for video length. Second it posters to post in HD. The only limit is that videos have to be under 500 mg and you can only post 500mg per week, counter is reset every Sunday.

The only challenge i had is that the standard up-loader tool seems to time out when uploading over 100mg however if you use http://vimeo.com/upload/babyface there isn't a problem.

Here's my example: It's video from sea trials for a submarine I worked on in college. enjoy.

I'm sure some members are allready aware but I thought I'd share.

Not very good.

First why are yall getting in at sea? with scuba tanks on?! All that does it cause a mess.

2nd the craft is way too small and unless I am missing somthing then this is actually less effective than just swimming out to what you want to look at.

Next time you build a sub. Pressurize it and keep the crew dry. Install lighting and other things connected to a small battery recharged by the person who provides the propulsion. Make it to where it can atleast outperform the Hunley.

Edit: And next time please don't throw a copyrighted song in just for extra points. Use public domain or creative commons music.

It's for the international submarine races. It is not an exploration sub it's sole purpose is to go fast. The first races were held in open water in Ft' Lauderdale. since the they have been moved to the David E Taylor Model Basin in MD. The original race required contestant to run an obstacle course the sub in the video holds the record for this type of race and was in the guinness book of records.

As for performance the Henley requires 8 men and can reach 4 knots surfaced. we reach 6 with only one mad powering.

Oh sorry I had thought this sub actually was for use and not for show. Sad really

Considering Hunley was Civil War tech and could Dive more than a few feet then that is no excuse. But then again this is for a silly race. What is a better use for funds is a sub that can take college students to good depths to do science while not relying on the short ranges of simple batteries. A human recharged sub is a great idea in my view.

Any plans to build a good sub?

You bump up a topic to post somthing stupid? Next time leave the ego crap out of it and post somthing reasonable. Or don't post at all.

No I don't have a Sub. No need where I live.
