1943.
When I return form patrol, I will probably have enough renown to buy me a IXD2. I've read somewhere that there were several bugs / issues with this particular sub in the game. Which ones are still present in GWX 1.03 and how can I deal with them? So far I've read about the external torpedo loading bug, but I believe there are more problems? Regards Canovaro |

It is true that there are a few issues (stock SH3 ones) with the IXD2 (torpedoes, sonar destroyed message when you reload the game after having been damaged etc) but none of them are game-killers. The boat is fully operational and it's a joy to use. I did used it a lot during my patrols in the Indian Ocean while playing GWX 1.03 and 2.0

I'm on my 4th voyage in my IXD2, It has its advantages and disavantages. Its biggest advantage over its predecessors is the distance it can cover without refueling. Even holding 24 eels you will run out of torpedos long before you run out of fuel unless you run around at flank speed all the time. Setting speed to 9 knots manualy will result in over 50,000 km's before relueling is necessary. In my 1st voyage i went to cancun and returned without ever receiving a fuel is down to 50% message. the last 2 missions i;ve been on i've run out of torps long before i've made it to my destination and personally i'd rather sail back to base for a reload rather than stop at 1 of the milk cows just to loaded up with T1 torps. The subs biggest disadvantage is its diving time, it takes this beast awhile to change its dive plaine when your radar detection picks up a plane you better goose it to dive. Overall i was disappointed with this boat and will save my duckets for the XXI the next time i live this long in a career. I was disappointed with its diving depth or lack of it. I took my ship to 252 meters and started getting depth related hull damage. Hull integraty had dropped below 85% before it finally quit when the boat had raised to 224 meters. I was happy i found that out on my own testing rather than when i was being shaken not stirred by DC's The boat does have good top speed tho as i am able to hit 21knots in good weather. |
