Ok dont laugh (NZ coppers bad shots)

I use to beable to shoot a rabbit running 50yrds away with a 22 rifle. These coppers fired 12 shots at a rotterweiler and missed. Im glad the dog never got killed wasn't his fault. They got the bad guy in the end and the dog gets to live.

NEW Zealand police fired their guns 12 times at a snarling rottweiler during a domestic dispute but missed every time, local media reported.
Officers had already tried capsicum spray on the "large, lunging rottweiler" with no effect, the New Zealand Press Assocation said.
A 19-year-old man threw an axe, logs and bottles at police who tried to arrest him last night at Porirua, near Wellington, before setting his partner's dog on officers, Inspector John Spence said.
After the capsicum spray failed to subdue the rottweiler, the young officers began shooting at the dog as it ran around the property, but missed.
Asked why police fired so many shots at the dog, Insp Spence said shooting at moving things in real life was different to shooting at targets at the range.
"It was a small, fast moving target. I am satisfied no members of the public were put at risk," he said.
The 90-minute stand-off ended when police set three of their own dogs on the man, inflicting leg wounds that needed surgery.
The rottweiler was returned to its owner and would not be put down, police said.

I don't even try to take a shot after they run.
Perhaps I should give it a try next spring.

You have a small fast target with a pistol - yep I can see them missing. This is real life, not Hollywood where everyone hits their mark in Hollywood - at least if you are the main character.

Give these coppers a rifle and I bet they would hit him every time too. A pistol is nothing more than a defensive weapon for use against a man sized target at very close range. It is not an offensive or hunting weapon.

Perhaps they did have rifles or SMGs, it doesn't say.

The only sure way to take down a criminal and his dog is with nukes.

Well yeah quite easy, i got given my first air rifle when 8 years old then by the time i was 14, i was hunting with a 22 and sometimes shotgun, use to shoot, rabbits/hares, pheasants, ducks, pigs, & would trapped posseums for their skins. And what i shot we ate. Posseum meat taste like chicken & Rabbit stew with yams, mouth watering...

I use to beable to shoot rabbits running easily with a 22, havn't been rabbit shooting for a very long time so i dont think i could now.

I still get most of mine by startleing them down in tall grass. Above 5 inches of grass and they don't move a muscle, even when you stand next to them re-loading.

In short, open grass or wheat stubble it's usualy a long sitting stalk for me.
