Done. But it still puzzles me. when they cam as kids to Israel, then one is wondering what happened to them inside the Jewish state that they could turn out to become the modern archenemy of Judaism. One would have expected the opposite.

I know not much, if anything at all, about Israeli society. and maybe that is still too optimistic a self-assessment.

The massive immigration of Russian and FSU members in the 80's and 90's consisted of some 35% to 65% non-Jews, depending on what you base your statistics on. These families mainly came for potentially economic reasons. We're talking about 100's of 1000's of people like this.

It's not difficult to find anti-semites in such a big slice of Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuainian, etc., natives. They stick to each other here. When concentrated enough in one neighborhood/suburb, their children would make up the vast majority of the area public school. Even when distributed throughout large areas, they have their own clubs, gangs, etc.

We knew this was happening when numerous Russian acquaintences we knew all began saying that most of the new Russians they're seeing at work, on the bus and at school were definitely not Jewish at all.

Sounds like a big knowledge hole of mine. Sooner or later I must get some more basic infomation on Israel's social structures and communal functioning. But right now I have five books on my table, reading them simultaneously at different times and opportunities of the day... Multitasked reading is a bad habit...

The law of return was riddled with loopholes by the secular leftists in the Labor Party government when this all began, plus lax enforcement of it, with the excuse that we need to pile on masses of people to bolster the demographics and quantity reigns supreme.

Heck! I could most probably find a way to easily forge you an ability to move over.

The next stupid step is these politicians saying that now, after the fact, and it's obvious that even the least Jewish Israelis recognize these people aren't even Jewish, the government is attempting a campaign of mass lip-service conversion that's an absolute farce. We're already past the point here where religious organizations are thinking of banding together to maintain ancestorial records to document who is definitely Jewish or not. This was last done on a massive scale at the time of Exra the Prophet, when Israel returned from the Babylonian and Persian exile to build the 2nd Temple in Jerusalem. At that time, the massive problem was Jews who had intermarried in exile yet still were interested in returning to Israel.
