Default OT: Subs in every state

I know not every state has a WWII sub that people can go visit and explore, however every state should have a memorial for a sub with WWII sub merorabilia.
Since 52 boats went down, the U.S. SubVets allocated each states subvet chapter a boat to memorialize, so every state should have something related to WWII subs.

Here is the SubVets website, and click the link for memorials, or click look for state chapter and go to the website and see if they have a memorial.

Cool, I did not know Maryland had Squalus as a memorial. Learn something new everyday. You already know I'm working on the Torsk. For those that find a sub local to your area become a volunteer! I did for the USS Torsk and I love working on her!

Hey, Shoot, sounds like you are missing the summer Batfish adventure you had! I know the feeling man, if I can't make it to the Torsk on some Saturdays I get bummed out. This week I stripped six layers of paint off an electrical box in the forward engine room in prep for the original paint color. Got to love the military. If it is not bolted down, throw it out. If it is bolted down, paint it!!!!

We have a work weekend coming up in October. Thus far 56 people are coming from around the country to work on the Torsk for three days. We berth on the Torsk and eat on the Lighthouse Chesapeake. As you know it is hard to keep'em ship shape when the sticky hand visitors come through.

Ours is the USS Bullfin. Sad, she was lost the day we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima. What a waste.

Yea AVG, I miss it ALOT, I learned so much and did so much. It was pretty funny, I got to go up into the conning tower and the Park manager did not know where the sonar was ( he had only been there for about 3 months and is still learning the history)and I pointed it out to him through my knowledge from SH4.

This year, the Batfish will be staying open all year, and there is a new addition to the experience this year, they have started to do an overnight program onboard, for boyscuts and eventually the public. Also they will have reenactors come aboard, in full Navy uniform. There is an airshow going on this year in which the Blue Angels will be participating, and the Batfish will have something to do with it I am not entirely sure right now what it entails but it will be cool.
